For the sake of being Googleable (yuck.): it’s a simple dictionary basic HTTP auth cracker written in Python using the urllib2 module.

A fun idea would be to use SIGINFO to be able to check how the script is doing [http://mgee.pastebin.com/f39dacc]. This, unfortunately, causes the script to terminate with errno 4 if the signal is received while urllib2.urlopen is doing it’s stuff. Surely solvable with something sigprocmaskish or threading?

First.. the bash guru way:

1. Open up a terminal. Take a good look at the standard, small, square-like terminal window. It’s going away in just a minute.
2. Type in something like this:
   echo "alias gnome-terminal='gnome-terminal --geometry=120x25'" >> ~/.bashrc
3. You did replace 120×25 with the geometry you want, didn’t you? I’m not going to force you to use 120×25 you know. I ain’t like that.
4. Hit [enter], close the terminal.
5. Open it up again.
6. Cheer, you bash guru.

Second.. config file wizard way:

1. Open up /usr/share/vte/termcap/xterm in your favorite editor. (Vim, vim, vim or vim.)
2. Find a line that looks something like this: :co#80:it#8:li#40:\ .. I know, ugly. Line 10 for me, should be the same for you.
3. Change the first and last number on that line. In this case, that’s 80 and 40. Replace it with whatever you like.
4. Save the file, quit.
5. You’ll need to relog. Sorry.
6. Start the terminal and be impressed by your awesome config editing skills.

Third.. mister rightclickalot.

1. You probably have a gnome-terminal launcher icon added to either your panel or desktop. Or both.
2. Right click that sexy icon.
3. You guessed it. Go to Properties.
4. Now look at the Command: field. Yup, you guessed it again. Add --geometry=120x25 to it.
5. Hit Close. Done.
6. Enjoy, but remember that bash guru and config wizard are better than you.

There, that’s about it. Keep in mind that method 1 & 2 are global. The terminal will start with your desired geometry regardless of how, when and why you run it. Number 3 isn’t. So if you (for some weird reason) happen to have 5 terminal launchers on your panel you’ll have to configure each one separately.

Why don’t GNOME developers let us set it via the Profile menu in gnome-terminal - I don’t know.
